Is it possible to keep a custom member field in sync with MailChimp lists? For example, unchecking a "subscribe" box, or toggling a select to "no" and removing that member from the list.

Hi Seamus,
It's not possible for a member to update his subscription preferences using a standard ExpressionEngine installation.
However, if you're using the User module, MailChimp Subscribe will update any mailing list subscriptions when a member edits his profile.
It's worth mentioning that this is not "syncing". That is, if the member were to change his preferences on the MailChimp site (or anywhere outside of ExpressionEngine), those changes will not be reflected in his member preferences.

Thanks for the info Stephen. I am indeed running the User module and managed to get the unsubscribes working the way I had hoped with your advice. Since I was using a checkbox, I realized I needed to pass a hidden field to submit the unchecked value.
Very appreciative of your quick support on free software.
